Configure leave and time off policies in Zoho People

This article covers how to configure time off and leave policies, using Zoho People. Leave policies allow you to specify when an employee can leave the company for certain amount of time and for what reasons. Once defined, a policy can be used by an employee to request time off.

  1. Have access to the settings area Zoho People 
Idea
Register a new policy
To configure a new policy, click the "Settings" option in the top right corner of the page, and then select "Time off":



In the configuration tab, select the "Leave policy" menu. This will display all existing leave policies in the center of the screen:



To edit a policy, simply click it. If you want to add a new one, click the "Add leave policy" button to the right. Now, select the appropriate type and press "Next":


  • Fixed entitlement: A simple policy with a fixed amount of leaves, such as 12 days per year.
  • Experience-based entitlement: An advanced policy with a variable amount of leave based on the employee's years of experience.
  • Grant-based entitlement: A policy that credits special leave to specific employees based on a request, such as maternity leave.
  • Attendance based entitlement: A policy that credits leave to employees based on their worked hours or days.

  • Now, specify the required information in every field. When done, press the "Next" button on the lower right side of the screen:



    The applicability window allows you to specify to whom is this policy going to apply:


    The restrictions form, allows you to specify if there is any restriction (for example, a limit on the number of times this policy can be requested by an employee):


    Once done, press the "Add" button.
